Compassion's Child Sponsorship Programme is the heart of Compassion's ministry to children living in poverty and aims to disciple, equip and enable children to develop into fulfilled and responsible adults.
Deeper Youthgroup are sponsoring a child called Shopon through Compassion. Shopon lives with his father and his mother. At home duties include carrying water. His father is sometimes employed as a labourer and his mother maintains the home. There are three children in the family.
As part of Compassions' ministry Shopon participates in Church activities. Hs is also in kindergarten where football and playing group games are his favourite activities.
Because of Deeper's sponsorship Shopon will have new opportunities to learn and grow physically, mentally and spiritually. Thank you for your concern and prayers.
Shopon lives on the plains of Parail, home to approximately 6,000 residents. Typical houses are constructed of dirt floors, mud walls and tin roofs. The regional diet consists of rice, potatoes and lentils.
Common health problems in this area include malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea, viral hepatitis, typhoid, asthma, skin diseases and chicken pox. Most adults in parail work as day labourers and earn the equivalent of £25 per month. This community needs tuition assistance, employment opportunities and income-generating activities.
